"For where your treasure is, there your heart will be also." - Matt 6:21
Food for thought, what's the most important thing to you in this world? With the disasters happening thick and fast, first in Myanmar then China, Jason had a good point yesterday about re-considering really how we look at our lives.
Time to do what's really important?

We've got jam-packed activities...here goes...
22nd December 2007 (Saturday)
This is THE Christmas party. It's held every year at the same time 3:00 p.m. and you can expect a great music, entertaining performances and to meet lots and lots of people who could one day be your best friends.
24th December 2007 (Monday)
So every Christmas eve, I spend a lot of time tramping from house to house and joining a bunch of people singing songs. Would you like to be one of them this year?
25th December 2007 (Tuesday)
This is our annual Gospel outreach event. This year, we're putting up a LIVE sketch telling a story set in ancient China. There'll also be a special Christmas dinner at 6:00 p.m. for youth (err...if you're around my age, then you're youth lah). Come and join us for something meaningful and worth your time.
And now...by popular demand... the sixth item on my Christmas wishlist...

Set your heart...
Listen up. It's time to pay attention. You can't have everything you want. You gotta choose.
1 Cor 10:6 Now there things occurred as examples to keep us from setting our hearts on evil things as they did.
Jonah 2:8 Those who cling to worthless idols forfeit the grace that could be theirs.
Luke 12:34 For where your treasure is, there your heart is also.
Matthew 6:33 But seek first His kingdom and His righteousness, and all these things will be given to you as well.
The problem, my brother, is because you have your heart on something other than God's righteousness.
The problem is because we've set our hearts on evil things. Something we don't get rid of though we know we must.
The problem is because you see your treasure on earth and forget that you can't have both that and a bank account in heaven.
The problem is, we made the wrong choice today, when we should have made the right one.

Not satisfied with life...
Just got back from our church family camp in Genting Highlands. There's a thought that I brought back with me - am I satisfied with my life?
We spent four days studying the book of Ephesians - taking us all the way from how God chose us to the war we wage in our daily lives. Being a Christian is about having the right perspective and the sort of life to prove it.
We often stumble on the first part of this. Yes, you prayed the sinners prayer. You said you wanted forgiveness for sins. And yet, did your perspective change? Do you still wallow in sin? Do you chase the things in this world that are meaningless - ultimately? Do you harbor in your heart wrong motives and misplaced goals?
Until you realise what a great plan God has laid out for you and that there is eternal life beyond this shell we live in, you can't get it right.
But I'm on the second part. So, if I know that ultimately nothing matters save the work that's eternal, why do I spend more time than I should enjoying myself? Why am I not urgent (or urgent enough) in sharing the gospel?
I've realised I can't be satisfied with this life I'm leading. Not enough. Because if there's one thing the Bible makes clear, it's that time is very, very short. It's time to buckle down and get down to business. Eternal business.
Be very careful, then, how you live -- not as unwise but as wise, making the most of every opportunity, because the days are evil.

The truth behind Song Festival
Tomorrow (actually later today), four groups from my church will compete against one another in a battle of song and music.
But only to those who know little better.
You see, the truth is, though all four groups may seem to sing to win or to outdo one another, we're really all singing for one purpose - that those who hear may come to know Christ and his saving grace.
Tomorrow (actually later today), from mine own mouth will come the words "No condemnation..." and it's not the tune that makes it beautiful. It's the profound understanding that though we once stood condemned because of our sin, we are now condemned no more because of Christ's blood.
If there is one truth, it is the surety that you will die. And die because of the surety that you have committed sin - whether lies, or theft, or lust, or laziness, or gluttony, or anger or jealousy. But in this one truth is also the truth that Jesus Christ lives, and he lives so you too can live.
It's quite funny how the free gifts are the gifts that we value the least. Yes, it's free for us, but God paid ever so dearly. So this is why we sing, because together, we describe the love God has had for us, and challenge our own reply.
"What shall be your answer?"
